Prime Accused In Jagannath Temple Servitor’s Murder Arrested In Odisha’s Puri
Puri: Police have arrested the prime accused in the murder of a servitor of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri and seized two pistols from his possession.
Speaking to media persons on Sunday, Sushil Mishra, additional SP of Puri, said the prime accused in the case, Jagan Khatei, was on the radar of police since the day of incident.
A patrolling team of Puri Sadar police station received the information that Jagan was going to broker a deal on sale of guns at Haladia Chhak in the town on Saturday evening. A police team rushed to the spot and nabbed Jagan.
During question, Jagan admitted his involvement in the murder of servitor Kalia Padhiary. On the basis of his confession, the police conducted a raid on his house where they seized a pistol, a revolver, a live cartridge and a mobile phone, the ASP said.
The police have launched further investigation to ascertain involvement of the accomplices of Jagan in the murder of the servitor. They arrested Jagan and forwarded him to court on Sunday, Mishra added.
