[Watch] Another Delhi Shocker: Taxi Driver Dragged By Car, Succumbs To Injuries

New Delhi: In an inhuman act of brutality, a taxi driver lost his life after being dragged by a vehicle for around 200 meters.

The 43-year-old, identified as Bijendra, was found in a critical condition with a severe head injury in Mahipalpur area, around 11.30 on Tuesday night.

Police said Bijendra, a resident of Faridabad, worked as a cab driver.

He was driving the vehicle in Mahipalpur area when a group of men tried to steal his vehicle. When he tried to resist, Bijendra was thrown out of the cab. The robber in the driving seat hit Bijendra in an attempt to escape.

The incident which was caught on camera. The video, which went viral on social media, shows Bijendra holding on to the rear of the vehicle and being dragged along Delhi-Gurugram highway for a distance of about 200 metres before he was detached and the cab escaped.

A case of murder and destroying evidence has been registered by Delhi Police against the accused, who are on the run. Six teams have been formed to catch the culprits.

The incident was reminiscent of another hit-and-drag case in the Indian Capital on January 1, when a 20-year-old woman was killed. The woman, named Anjali Singh, and her friend were returning home when their scooty was hit by a car. She was reportedly dragged by the car and her naked body was found a few kilometres away.
