Bhubaneswar: A 46-year-old man has been arrested on charge attempting to sexually attempt a woman after being angry over her pet dog’s loud barking in Bhubaneswar.

Hunt is on by the Capital Police Station for two others for their alleged involvement in the ghastly incident that took place in Surya Nagar area of the city on Thursday.

Preliminary investigation showed that at least three people were allegedly involved in the incident. One of them, identified as Maguni Nayak, has been arrested, while efforts are on to nab two others – Chandan Nayak and his father Tuna, TOI quoted assistant commissioner of police (zone-I) Manas Ranjan Garnaik as saying.

Notably, the 23-year-old woman was allegedly disrobed on the road and molested by her neighbours, who were angry over constant barking of her pet dog loudly.

Maguni was stated to have past enmity with the woman’s family and on Thursday afternoon, he picked up a quarrel with the woman. Later, his family members Chandan and Tuna joined him and hurled abuses at the woman.

The three then attacked the woman and her family members besides disrobing her on the road and allegedly attempting to rape her. The dog also sustained serious injuries after being attacked by the accused, police said. The woman subsequently lodged a complaint at the police station.
