CM back to work after two glasses of Nimbu Pani
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik is back in action after two glasses of Nimbu Pani. He fell ill while delivering his Independence Day speech at MG Marg here earlier in the day. While the CMO office blamed it on humidity, Naveen later on his Facebook page wrote about drinking adequate water before going out in the sun to avoid dehydration.
“Should have had adequate water for parade in sunny humid conditions. Standing under the sun felt little dehydrated. Perfectly fine now with two glasses of nimbu pani. Attending the rest of days programmes as scheduled. Must tell all of you to drink adequate water before going out in the sun to avoid dehydration.
Thank you all for your wishes and wish you all a Happy Independence Day!,” he wrote.
After unfurling the tricolour, Naveen was seen sweating profusely while addressing the gathering. He then cut short his speech and left the podium midway after around 15 minutes of the address. But despite the illness, the 71-year-old chief minister received salute at the state-level parade in which 54 troupes, including school and college students participated.
“He felt slightly uncomfortable due to the high-humidity level. Doctors examined him and found no serious health issues. He is now completely fit and fine and will attend all programmes as per schedule,” chief minister’s public relations officer Sukanta Panda said.
The chief minister later gave away police medals to 13 selected cops at a special function at Jaydev Bhawan here. Two officers Sushant Nath (IG) and Dillip Das (SP, headquarters) received President’s police medal for distinguished service while 11 others were felicitated for meritorious service.
Speaking to media, Naveen said he is completely alright.
