UGC Invites Authors To Pen Textbooks In Odia & 11 Other Indian Languages
New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has invited qualified authors to write original textbooks for undergraduate (UG) courses in 12 Indian languages. Including Odia.
The other languages UGC has sought authors for are Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Hindi, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
UGC, in an official notification about introducing undergraduate courses in 12 Indian languages, has invited Expression of Interest (EOI) from qualified authors from higher educational institutions to write original textbooks.
“University Grants Commission (UGC), Ministry of Education, Government of India invites Expression of Interest (Eol) from interested Authors/Critics and Faculty Members of HEls (higher education institutions) for writing original text-books in 12 Indian languages for the undergraduate (UG) level courses in the different subjects of Arts, Science and Social Sciences,” stated the notification on its website.
Interested Authors/Critics/Faculty Members of HEls have been asked to send their acceptance to the Commission and furnish their Expression of Interest (EOI) through a form available at the link — https://forms.gle/cABbivfPB6hvfFhB9 — latest by January 30, 2024 (midnight), the notification added.
UGC’s decision is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to promote Indian languages.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) earlier issued a notice for affiliated schools asking them to adopt NCERT books which are being made available in 22 Indian languages.
