Odisha Sees Slight Rise In Night Temp; Fog Shrouds 14 Places, Thickest In Nayagarh

Bhubaneswar: Odisha witnessed further rise in the night temperature in the last 24 hours with Koraput being the coldest at 9.2 degree Celsius, followed by Kirei in Sundargarh at 10 degree Celsius, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Wednesday.

Hill stations like Daringbadi and G Udayagiri in Kandhamal recorded 14.5 and 14.8 degree Celsius. The night temperature in twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar was 18.2 and 19.2 degree Celsius, respectively, 4.1 and 3.7 degrees above normal.

Very dense fog, reducing visibility to 50 metres, was seen in Nayagarh while dense fog engulfed Angul and Cuttack. Bhawanipatna, Chandbali, Paradip, Gopalpur, Puri, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Hirakud, Rourkela and Baripada also woke up to a foggy Wednesday morning.

Nimapara in Puri registered 1.2 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.

The weather agency has forecast rain for another two days. Light to moderate rain\thundershower may occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Kendrapada till 8.30 on Thursday. Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at one or two places across the state.

Light to moderate rain\thundershower is also likely at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, and Kalahandi during the subsequent 24 hours. Shallow to moderate fog may occur at one or two places in the state as well.

While dry weather conditions will prevail thereafter with no large change in night temperature at many places in districts of Odisha, it added.
