Odisha Guardians Welcome Centre Guidelines On Coaching Centres
Bhubaneswar: The guardians in Odisha have welcomed the Centre’s restrictions on enrolling students of less than 16 years in coaching centres.
In a press release on Thursday, Basudev Bhatta, president of Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha (Odisha Guardians Association) said they welcome the Ministry of Education’s proposed Guidelines for Regulation of Coaching Centre 2024.
The guidelines suggested that students younger than 16 years should not be enrolled in coaching centres. The guidelines also suggest that coaching centres should not make misleading promises or guarantee ranks to parents and students.
“We had filed a petition before National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in 2020 evoking a major discussion in the Ministry. Later, the Ministry accepted the chit fund schemes of coaching centres and issued a guideline to regulate the private coaching centres,” Bhatta said.
“We are happy to know this guideline to control the monopoly of private coaching centres and also harassment of the students,” he added.
The Ministry has forwarded the guidelines for Registration and Regulation of Coaching Centre 2024 to the chief secretaries of all states and Union territories for their implementation.
