New Delhi: In view of Republic Day preparations and celebrations, no flights would be allowed to arrive or take off from Indira Gandhi International Airport in the national capital between 10.20 am and 12.45 pm till January 26, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) informed on Friday.
The air space curbs will apply to state-owned aircraft for governors and chief ministers. Indian Air Force, BSF, and Army aviation helicopters, however, will be exempted from these measures, it added.
The NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been revised to introduce the new restrictions. Earlier, the curbs were in place only for non-scheduled flights with certain exceptions, the PTI reported.
The AAI had earlier imposed restrictions on landing and taking off of non-scheduled flights of scheduled airlines, as well as chartered flights, between 10 a.m. and 1.15 p.m from January 19-25 and from 6 am to 9 pm on January 26 and 29.
Besides IAF, BSF, or Army aviation helicopters, the NOTAM, exempted state-owned aircraft/helicopters flying with the governor/chief minister of the state from the curbs.
The air in Delhi, which is the largest is the country, handles over 1,300 flights every day.
