Bhawanipatana: After lodging an FIR with Bhawanipatna Town police against noted litterateur Haraprasad Das for allegedly harassing her on social media, lecturer and writer Pallishree Pattanayak has slapped a defamation suit of Rs 50 lakh against him.
The Kalahandi-based writer filed the defamation suit at the court of Civil Judge Senior Division, Bhawanipatna, on Wednesday. Her statement was also recorded under section 161 and 164 of the CrPC, reports said.
Earlier this month, the acclaimed litterateur had lodged a criminal defamation suit against eight persons, including Patnaik, at Bhubaneswar ADJM court and a civil defamation case at the court of Civil Judge Senior Division.
This issue came to the fore when a group of intellectuals met State Commission for Women on August 1, seeking action against Das for sexually harassing some woman writers including Patnaik.
Das had refuted the allegations saying he had been inactive on Facebook since long and it could be the handiwork of a hacker.
