Yet Another Loot In Odisha Capital, Miscreants Flee With Jewellery From Locked House In Kapila Prasad

Bhubaneswar: Unidentified miscreants looted gold and silver jewellery from a house in Kelucharan Kapila Prasad Lane 5 of the Odisha capital’s Bhimatangi Phase II area late on Saturday night.

The Commissionerate Police has begun a probe.

As per reports, house owner Dhrubaharan Patra was in Bangalore when the miscreants broke open the window of the locked house and entered the building.

“The house owner is visiting his daughter in Bangalore. I visit the house every day and also sleep here in at night. But yesterday my son was not well and so I did not come. Today when I came, I saw miscreants had looted the house,” said the caretaker of the house to media.

The miscreants reportedly looted only gold jewellery and other valuables from the lockers of both almirahs and did not touch other items.

Patra’s neighbour Sarat Kumar Das told media he was called by Patra at 6:30 am and informed about the incident, and when he came inside the house along with the caretaker, he saw how the miscreants had decamed with jewellery from the almirah. “The caretaker did not come for a day and the house was looted. It is clear miscreants are keeping a close watch on each house. This is the third house which has been looted in our colony.”

While the Commissionarete Police claims that patrolling has increased after an increase in such cases in the capital, people of the area are not satisfied with police action. “We are senior citizens and you can understand how unsafe we feel after these incidents. We do not know whether police patrolling is at all happening,” said another neighbour of Patra.

Meanwhile, a police dog squad has reached the spot for the probe, informed sources.
