Bhubaneswar: More than 5.51 lakh students are slated to appear in the class X High School Certificate or matriculation examination in Odisha from Tuesday.
The matriculation examination, being conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, will be held in 3,047 centres across the state.
As many as 21 police stations have been made nodal centres in remote areas of the state. A total of 5,51,611 students have got themselves registered for the annual examination, sources said.
Stating that all the preparations have been completed for the matriculation examination, BSE officials said that the evaluation process will begin from March 16 and the entire process is likely to be completed by March 30.
As part of efforts to curb malpractice in the examination, the BSE has decided to allow students inside the centres early. While the examination is slated to start at 9 am, the entry of students into the centres will start from 7: 30 am and be completed by 8:15 am.
OMR sheets will be provided to students at 8:30 am and they can start working on it, according to BSE Vice-President Nihar Ranjan Mohanty.
Students will not be allowed into the centres after 8: 15 am as the exam will start at 9 am. Apart from this, no employee other than centre superintendents will be allowed to take mobile phones inside the examination hall, BSE officials said.
The step has been taken to prevent possibility of question papers getting viral.
CCTV cameras have been installed and the officials will be able to get information through Artificial Intelligence (AI) if there is any deviation. Quick action can be taken in case of any irregularities, sources said.
