Coimbatore: In a heartening video shared on X, showing human animal interactions, IAS officer Supriya Sahu recounted a touching tale of forest officials where they successfully rescued and reunited an elephant calf with its mother.
Sahu also described the heartening moment when the mother elephant raised her trunk in a gesture of appreciation towards the forest officials following the rescue mission at Pollachi in Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore district.

The sequence of events unfolded when the calf inadvertently slipped and tumbled into a canal and the swift water current posed significant challenges for the calf to extricate itself.
Despite the challenges encountered during the rescue operation, the forest officials’ extraordinary endeavours culminated in the triumphant reunion of the baby elephant with its mother.
In the past few weeks, when the appearance of elephants from the Western Ghats in Kerala towns raised an alarm, leading to the unfortunate deaths of two individuals, this occurrence has triggered discussions on social media about the intricate issues related to human-animal conflicts.
