New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate has issued the eighth summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning regarding the Delhi Excise policy scam case.
The central agency has asked the Delhi CM to appear for questioning on March 4 at the ED headquarters in the national capital, PTI reported.
Kejriwal did not attend the seventh summon issued to him in connection with the case on Monday, stating that he would only appear before the agency if ordered by a court. The AAP leader accused the authorities of using the summons as a tactic to coerce him into abandoning the INDIA block.
The ED has filed a petition with a Delhi court against Kejriwal for repeatedly failing to attend consecutive summons over the past few months. A city court, responding to the ED’s concerns about Kejriwal’s failure to comply with its summons, has instructed the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party to appear before it on March 16.
While issuing the eighth summon, the ED dismissed the argument that issuing a new notice for Kejriwal’s appearance was inappropriate due to the matter being sub-judice.
Previously, on February 14, the ED had issued a sixth summon to the Delhi CM as part of the money laundering investigation linked to purported irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy case, requesting his participation in the investigation by February 19
