Bhadrak: A Special Fast Track Court on Thursday sentenced a man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) for raping a minor girl in Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
Justice Minati Panda also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict. In default, he has to send another six months in jail.
According to sources, Mohan Kumar Kundu (34) of Bhagibindha village under Dhamnagar police limits lured a minor girl with chocolates, took her to an isolated place and raped her. The incident took place on January 13, 2022.
The minor returned home and narrated the incident to her mother, who then lodged an FIR at Dhamnagar police station. A case was registered under Sections 376(3) and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 4, 1 of the POSCO Act and Mohan was arrested two days later.
