Odisha Congress Releases Manifesto With 90 Promises, 9 Guarantees For Assembly Polls
Bhubaneswar: A day before declaration of dates for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, Odisha Congress on Friday released its manifesto, making 90 promises and nine “guarantees” to the people of the state.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Sarat Pattanayak, party’s state in-charge Ajoy Kumar and other state leaders were present at the manifesto unveiling ceremony in Bhubaneswar.
In its manifesto, the Congress has promised to provide bonus along with Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 3000 per quintal for paddy, waive off agricultural loans and a monthly pension of Rs 2000 to farmers. It has also pledged 200 units of free electricity for domestic consumers in the state.
The manifesto also promises employment opportunities for approximately 5 lakh youths and an unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month for three years. It also includes monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 to elderly, widows and persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and also head of families (women) under Gruha Lakshmi Yojana.
The Congress has also guaranteed LPG cylinder to every family at Rs 500, and free health services to all up to Rs 15 lakh in government and private hospitals. It would also waive off loans provided to Women Self Help Groups.
The party has also promised 27 per cent reservation for backward classes in educational institutions and service sector.
Within 100 days of coming to power, the social and economic survey would be conducted and 35 kg rice, one kg of salt, one kg of oil, one kg pulses and 250 gm turmeric would be provided to the needy, it added.
