Odisha’s Malkangiri Sisters Creating Voter Awareness With Unique Poll Song Based On Multiplication Table 11
Malkangiri: As the nation and state gear up for Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, two sisters from Odisha’s Malkangiri are creating awareness among voters through a unique song based on multiplication table 11.
The sisters, Preeti Sulagna and Shruti Sulagna from Kalimela block in Malkangiri have created a beautiful rendition by blending mathematics and music to create awareness among people about their voting right and encouraging them to exercise their franchise.
The song goes like this: “Egara Eke Egara, Matadana Nagarika Shrestha adhikara, Egare Dune Baisi, Vote Deba Pain Jiba Sabu Maa Mausi.”
The audio version of the song has already been released, while shooting for the audio-video version is currently going on in Malkangiri.
Being made for the Malkangiri district administration, once completed, it will be presented to the Odisha State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
Another audio song “Mo Vote, Mo Samman” has already been released.
Both the parents of Sulagna sisters are music teachers.
“I teach and know how interesting are multiplication tables for children. Joint Director Higher Secondary Education Dr Sanatana Panda suggested that we should create awareness through multiplication tables on social issues,” told Preeti and Shruti’s mother to media.
The Sulagna sisters had earlier made headlines in the state through their unique songs creating awareness on road safety, female foeticide, health benefits of millets and several other issues. The songs were based on multiplication tables from two to 10.
“We started this during the pandemic to encourage Preeti to learn the table of two. Later, we started doing it with other numbers to create awareness on different issues,” Shruti told media.
Preeti said, “I was a little naughty. To encourage me to learn multiplication tables, my parents made videos. Gradually my interest also grew.”
