Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha experienced marginal drop in temperature on Sunday amid overcast sky under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over Chhattisgarh and a western disturbance.

A day after the mercury breached 40 degree Celsius at four places, there was slight fall temperature on Sunday.

As per the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, Malkangiri turned out to be the hottest place in the state with 39.7 degrees Celsius, while mercury touched 38 degree Celsius at only five places.
Malkangiri was followed by Rayagada and Jharsuguda (38.6 each), Bolangir and Paralakhemundi (38 each).

The state capital of Bhubaneswar recorded 35.2 degree Celsius, while the maximum temperature at Cuttack stood at 35.6 degree Celsius.

According to the midday bulletin, the day temperature is expected to fall by 3-4 degree Celsius during next 24 hours and then rise again by 4-5 degree at many places in the subsequent 2 days.

The night temperature will remain unchanged for the next 2 days and witness a gradual rise by 2-3 degrees at many places in subsequent 3 days.

The MeT Centre has issued yellow warning of warmer nights in some places in Odisha for three days from April 2.

Hot and humid weather conditions are also likely to prevail across the state from April 2-6. “Due to anticipated rise in maximum temperature, presence of high humidity in the atmosphere, hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail across the state from April 2-6. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during peak hours of the day,” it added.

The mercury is likely to soar to 40 degree Celsius in Cuttack and hover around 39 degree Celsius in Bhubaneswar by April 4-5.

The weather agency has also forecast light to moderate rain/thundershower at one or two places in Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Boudh, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kendrapada, and Nabarangpur till Monday morning.
