Rourkela: At least 20 members of a marriage party were injured after a pick-up van overturned in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Sunday evening.
As per reports, a group of people including women from Kainsara village in the district had gone to attend a marriage in Sargidihi village. While they were returning in the van after the marriage, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned at Kulupota ghat under Tikayatapali police station at around 5 pm.
The locals rushed to the spot and tried to rescue the injured people. On being informed by them, a team from Tikayatapali police station reached there.
With the help of the local people, the police rescued the passengers from the damaged van. They also sent the injured persons in ambulances to Sarsara Hospital for treatment.
While 20 villagers were sustained injuries in the accident, the condition of two of them was stated to be critical. The police have registered a case and started investigation.
