New Delhi: The Calcutta High Court has passed a notification exempting advocates from wearing a gown during the summer months. The temperature is soaring up to above 42 degrees Celsius here.

Earlier, other High Courts such as the Karnataka HC had also passed similar orders while accounting for the rising temperatures.

Accordingly, today, the Registrar General of the High Court on the instruction of Chief Justice Sivagnanam issued a notice directing the same.

“It is hereby notified for information of all concerned that, upon consideration of the ongoing inclement weather combined with heat wave, the Hon’ble the Chief Justice has been pleased to direct as follows: Taking note of the weather, wearing of Advocates’ gown is exempted till the Court reopens after Summer Vacation on 10.06.2024,” the notice read.
