2 Held With Ganja Worth Rs 1 Crore In Odisha’s Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: Two persons were arrested and a huge quantity of ganja valued at over Rs one crore seized from them by the police in Mohana area of Odisha’s Gajapati district on Thursday.

The two were nabbed during a special operation launched by police personnel neat Kamlapur check gate under the jurisdiction of Mohana police station.

The accused tried to run away when the police personnel intercepted their vehicle carrying a huge quantity of marijuana. However, both were overpowered by the police and the vehicle was searched leading to the seizure of ganja.

More than ten quintals of ganja packed in 33 bags were found in the vehicle. The estimated value of the contraband was put at over Rs one crore.

The accused were identified as Ramesh Sual Singh of Nadiapada village under Mohana police limits and Hemanta Swain of Digapahandi area of Ganjam district. They were smuggling the ganja to Solapur in Maharashtra, police said.
