Congress’s Indore Candidate Joins BJP Days Before General Elections 2024
New Delhi: Akshay Kanti Bamb, the Indore candidate of Congress on Monday withdrew his nomination, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The development was confirmed after Madhya Pradesh Minister and BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya posted a picture of Bamb, and wrote ‘welcome to the party’.
“Congress Lok Sabha candidate from Indore Akshay Kanti Bam is welcome in the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, party national president JP Nadda, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and state president VD Sharma,” a rough translation from Vijayvargiya’s post in Hindi suggested.
Congress had fielded Bamb against sitting BJP MP Shankar Lalwani from the Indore Lok Sabha seat, where polling will be held on May 13, India Today reported.
On Friday, BJD’s Soro MLA Parshuram Dhada returned to the BJP, ahead of the Lok Sabha and assembly polls in OdisHe had resigned from the party weeks before. Earlier, on April 27, a large number of Sikhs, including members of the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, joined the BJP.
The party said in a statement that more than 1,000 Sikhs joined the BJP.
