Odisha Elections: BJP’s Sambit Patra Holds Roadshow Before Filing Nomination In Puri; Know Why BJD Moved CEO Against Him
Puri: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sambit Patra held a roadshow while proceeding to file his nomination to fight the upcoming elections from Puri Lok Sabha constituency.
A large number of party leaders and workers participated in the roadshow as the BJP national spokesperson took out a massive rally from Uttara Chhak to file the nomination papers.
Patra was accompanied by BJP’s Pipili Assembly candidate Ashrit Pattanayak.
Confident of winning the election this time, BJP’s Puri MP candidate told reporters that the people are highly impressed with the leadership and popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
People are happy with the performance of the BJP-led government at the Centre in the last ten years and they will vote for the party in Odisha, he said.
Stating that he had little time to campaign in 2019 elections, Patra said he has been working at the grassroots level for the last five years and the people of the area will fight the election for him this time. They will decide on the basis of work done by me, he said.
Meanwhile, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) moved the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) accusing Patra of exploiting children for political gain in Puri Lok Sabha constituency.
In a petition to the CEO, the ruling BJD alleged that the BJP candidate has been using children in political rallies at Puri town.
Stating that use of minors in any political activities amounts to violation of their rights and wellbeing, the regional party sought action against the BJP leader for flouting the instructions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) on the matter.
