Bhubaneswar: Amid an increase in cybercrime cases in Odisha capital, the Commissionerate Police here has advised people to stay alert, freeze their accounts and call helpline number 1930 within the golden hour.
“If a call is made to 1930 within the golden hour of a cyber fraud, a major portion of the amount can be held back. But to freeze the account you need to give us the transaction ID,” Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Cyber Crime Anjana Tudu told media recently.
Giving more details about the golden hour, she said the call should be made within one hour of the fraud attempt when your money is in the gateway or the merchant site before full disbursement.
The Commissionerate Police, which is creating awareness to arrest cyber crimes, has advised people not to rush to the police station to file a complaint and instead call on the helpline number for quicker action.
To block the number from which spam and blackmailing calls or messages are received, people can visit the Chakshu App and do it on their own. “If you get a call or WhatsApp message or SMS which appears suspicious to you and you want to report or block, you need not come to the police station. You can do that through Chakshu App available on sancharsaathi.gov.in,” informed Tudu.
The app has specifically been developed to address cyber crimes, she added.
