New Delhi: Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi laid wreath at National War Memorial, ahead of his swearing-in ceremony, to be held at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Sunday.

He will take oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term along with nearly 30 ministers at 7.15 pm.

“At Rashtriya Samar Smarak, paid tributes to our brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our nation. Their unwavering courage and selflessness inspire us to uphold the values they fought for. Their sacrifice also motivates us to build a stronger and prosperous India they dreamt of,” Modi posted on X.

He started the day by paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Sadaiv Atal.

Allies Representation In Modi 3.0

Modi will take oath for a third consecutive term equalling the feat of first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who won in 1952, 1957 and 1962 general elections. Droupadi Murmu will administer the oath of office to Modi and his council of ministers at a ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhawan on Sunday evening.

The BJP might keep home, finance, defence and external affairs besides education and culture, while its allies, including the TDP, JD(U), and Shiv Sena, can get anywhere between five to eight cabinet berths. Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP is likely to get four portfolios in the new cabinet, while the JDU will get two berths, the NDTV reported quoting sources.

TDP MP Jayadev Galla posted on ‘X’ that party MP Ram Mohan Naidu will take oath as a cabinet minister, while another MP Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani will be appointed as minister of state in the new ministry.

Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) has proposed the name of two senior leaders – Lalan Singh and Ram Nath Thakur.

Three leaders from Karnataka, including former Karnataka CM and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, are likely to be sworn in as ministers.

Other alliance partners expected to receive cabinet berths include Chirag Paswan, Anupriya Patel (Apna Dal Party), Jayant Chaudhary (Rashtriya Lok Dal), and Jitan Ram Manjhi (Hindustani Awam Morcha).

BJP Ministers (Likely)

BJP leaders likely to get ministries, as per News18 sources, include DK Aruna, D Arvind, Basavaraj Bommai, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Biplab Dev, Nitin Gadkari, Suresh Gopi, Piyush Goyal, Prataprao Jadhav, Sanjay Jaiswal, Pralhad Joshi, Govind Karjol, PC Mohan, Bijuli Kalita Medhi, Jitin Prasad, Daggubati Purandeswari, Nityanand Rai, Eatala Rajender, Kishan Reddy, Kiren Rijiju, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Bandi Sanjay, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Dushyant Singh, Jitendra Singh, Rajnath Singh, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Shantanu Thakur.

From Odisha, where BJP registered a stunning victory by pocketing 20 of the 21 Lok Sabha seats, Ashwini Vaishnaw and Jual Oram are said to have received calls from the PMO. State party president Manmohan Samal’s name is also doing the rounds.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Baijayant Panda, Aparajita Sarangi, Pradeep Purohit and Sambit Patra were earlier in the reckoning. Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi’s name was also doing the rounds for an MoS berth. If Dharmendra is chosen as the first BJP chief minister of Odisha, Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra might have to resign to pave way for him to get elected to the Assembly and rewarded as a minister at the Centre, sources said.

Before the swearing-in ceremony, Narendra Modi will convene a meeting with the members of the new Council of Ministers at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, according to reports.

Foreign Leaders Attending PM Modi’s Swearing-In Ceremony

Meanwhile, Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and Maldives’ President Mohamed Muizzu have arrived in New Delhi to attend Modi and his council of ministers’ swearing-in ceremony. Among other who have confirmed participation are President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe, Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Prime Minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay.
