Bhubaneswar: Newly-elected Lok Sabha members, including 21 from Odisha, are slated to take oath in Parliament on June 24.
While some of the 21 elected from Odisha are already in New Delhi, others have started leaving for the national capital for oath-taking ceremony.
Ahead of his visit to New Delhi, BJP leader Naba Charan Majhi, who has been elected from Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency, stated that he will take oath in Santali language. “Santhali is my mother tongue. So I will take oath in Santhali language… In Assembly, our MLAs speak in their language. So, they support me for this…”
The tribal leader further said that he would hold discussion with both the Centre and state government regarding steps required for the promotion and propagation of Santali language.
Majhi said he would work whole-heartedly for the spread of Santali and also speak to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on the matter.
Notably, Ramachandra Hansdah had taken oath in Santali language in the Lok Sabha after getting elected on BJD ticket from Mayurbhanj in 2014.
