Puri: Devotees thronged Shree Gundicha Temple in Odisha’s Puri town on Wednesday morning for ‘Adapa Mandap’ darshan of the sibling deities.
Adapa Mandap is also known as the yagna bedi or the stage where the idols were constructed first. There is a belief that one gets virtues of deeds of crores of birth after having darshan of Chaturdha Murti (Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Sudarshan) on Adapa Mandap, which is the birthplace of the deities, during their annual sojourn.
Devotees and pilgrims were seen entering Shree Gundicha Temple from Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) after going through barricades. Nakachana Gate is serving as the exit door. As many as 20 platoons of police have been deployed to ensure a safe and disciplined ‘darshan’ for devotees.
Devotees can also relish ‘Adapa Abadha’ here for the next five days. ‘Banakalagi Niti’ will take place in the evening when Lord Jagannath will dazzle with ‘Shreemukha Sringara’.
Notably, Goti Pahandi’ of the Lords to Shree Gundicha Temple the previous evening was marred by a rare mishap in which seven servitors were injured after ropes to control Lord Balabhadra’s movement loosened, causing the deity to fall on the slanting ladders.
