Heavy To Very Heavy Rain To Pound Odisha Till July 20; Another Low Pressure Likely Over Bay

Bhubaneswar: Odisha may experience heavy to very heavy rain till July 20 under the influence of a low pressure, which currently lies over south Chhattisgarh adjoining Vidarbha.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted formation of a fresh low pressure area over west central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around July 19.

According to the weather agency, heavy rain is likely to pound southern districts of the state for three days while isolated very heavy rainfall may occur on July 19-20.

Yellow warning for heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) has been issued at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Nuapada, and Malkangiri on July 16. Bhubaneswar is likely to experience partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershower.

Heavy rain may continue at one or two places in Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Koraput during the subsequent 24 hours (July 17) and Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Puri, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Koraput and Nabarangpur on July 18.

On July 19, heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20cm) is likely at one or two places in Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal, and Ganjam districts. Heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places in Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Puri, Nayagarh, Khurda, Nuapada, Balangir, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Cuttack.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall may continue at one or two places in Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, and Balangir on July 20. There is also a forecast for heavy rainfall at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Nuapada districts.

Light to moderate rain/thundershower may at most places in Interior Odisha and many places in the coastal districts of the state during the subsequent two days.
