New Delhi: Shooter Manu Baker is on the cusp of an unprecedented hat-trick if she can deliver again with her 25m pistol. Manu opened India’s account with a bronze in the 10m air pistol event, followed by another bronze, alongside Sarabjot Singh, in the air pistol mixed team event.
Meanwhile, back home, the young shooter has already become a favourite with advertisers queuing up to have the 22-year-old endorse their brands. Forty of them in all so far, and they are willing to empty their pockets. Both long-term and short-term deals are in the works for contracts worth crores for a year-long duration, according to a report in Times Of India.
In badminton, PV Sindhu, 29, who was eyeing an Olympic hat-trick succumbed to China’s He Bing Jiao, 27. Sindhu had beaten the Chinese at the Tokyo Olympics to win the bronze medal. This time, she lost to her in the pre-quarterfinals, failing in her bid to get her third Olympic medal after her silver in Rio and bronze in Tokyo.
