Puja Khedkar’s Mother Granted Bail In Criminal Intimidation Case

Pune: A court here on Friday granted bail to Puja Khedkar’s mother Manorama Khedkar in a case of alleged criminal intimidation related to a land dispute.

Additional sessions judge AN Mare granted bail to Manorama, her counsel Sudhir Shah said.

Manorama, arrested on July 18 in connection with a land dispute case, was sent to police custody for four days. Thereafter, her bail plea was rejected, and she was sent to judicial custody for 14 days.

Police filed a case against Manorama, her husband and five others under several sections of the BNS and Arms Act after a video showing her and her husband allegedly threatening farmers over a land dispute in Pune surfaced online.

Manorama, seen wielding a pistol in the video, was accompanied by bouncers and seen arguing with a person about ownership of a plot of land.

She was arrested from a lodge in Hirkaniwadi village near Mahad, in Maharashtra’s Raigad district.

Shah said during the hearing that Pune police conducted a media trial of her client, but Manorama fully cooperated during the investigation.

UPSC cancelled the provisional candidature of probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar on July 31, and debarred her from all future examinations or selections.
