Death Threat! BJP Leader Moves Police Against BJD’s Ex-Block Functionary In Odisha’s Nayagarh
Nayagarh: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has lodged a complaint with the police in Odisha’s Nayagarh district accusing former Daspalla block vice-chairman of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of abusing and threatening him with dire consequences.
In his complaint, Raghab Malik, who was BJP’s MLA candidate in the recent election, alleged that former block vice-chairman Basanta Kumar Sahoo had also made objectionable and derogatory remarks about his caste.
Based on the complaint lodged by Mallik, who belongs to the Scheduled Caste community, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the allegation, sources said.
As per the BJP leader, Sahoo has illegally constructed an eatery on government land in Banigochha area in the district. He is also accused of running illegal liquor business in the eatery.
It was alleged that after Mallik tried to expose all these nefarious activities and drew the attention of the authorities, Sahoo got infuriated and threatened him with dire consequences over phone.
The BJP leader said he attending a programme at Kulurkumpa village recently when Sahoo called him on his mobile phone and abused him using vulgar languages. The BJD leader also threatened him with dire consequences, it was alleged in the complaint.
On the basis of the complaint, police have registered a case under relevant sections of BNS and SC/ST (POA) Act and launched an investigation, the sources added.
