Best Actor For ‘Jawan’ At IIFA: Is Shah Rukh Khan Greedy For Awards?

Bhubaneswar: After a couple of flops, Bollywood badshah Shah Rukh Khan returned to the silver screen with a bang and left the cash registers ringing with ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’ last year.

Even at 58, Shah Rukh is going strong as he bagged the Best Actor accolade for ‘Jawan’ at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) awards, leaving his young competitors envious and jealous.

“I love awards, I’m greedy about awards… I think I have a little happiness from the audience this year because I worked (again) after a long time,” said SRK after receiving the award at the glittering ceremony at Abu Dhabi.

Congratulating his competitors Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Vikrant Massey on being nominated for the award along with him, SRK shared with the audience the tough phase (son Aryan Khan’s arrest in a drugs case) his family went through during the making of ‘Jawan’.

“I want to thank all other nominees – Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, Vikrant Massey – he was great in the film – Vicky Kaushal, Sunny Paji. I think all of them were great, but I got an edge because people were happy that I worked after so long,” said a humble SRK.

The actor thanked his wife Gauri Khan for producing films for him.

“Somebody reminded me that money needs to be out into a film. So I want to thank Gauri. She may be the only wife who’s spending more on the husband than the other way round. We were going through a tough time while making Jawan (referring to the Aryan Khan case),” SRK said.
