Maharashtra MLA Stirs Controversy: ‘Farmer’s Son Gets An Inferior Bride’

Bhubaneswar: Devendra Bhuyar, an Independent MLA from Maharashtra, stirred a controversy by stating that a farmer’s son always gets an inferior bride.

Talking about the problems of farmers, at an event in Warud tehsil, the MLA remarked that all beautiful girls wish to marry a boy with a stable job, while girls of second category marry a person with grocery store or pan-shops.

“If a girl is beautiful, she will not like a person like you and me, but she will opt for a person having a job (while choosing her husband)… A number three girl would like (to marry) the son of a farmer,” said Bhuyar.

The MLA went on to say that children born out of such wedlocks are not good-looking.

Bhuyar’s insensitive comments about women were slammed by Congress leader and former Maharashtra Women & Child Development minister Yashomati Thakur.

Another MLA urged Ajit Pawar, for whom Bhuyar works, to restrain him from making such disgusting comments.

“Ajit Pawar and those in power should keep their MLAs under control. No one will tolerate such categorisation of women. Society will teach you a lesson,” said Thakur.
