Have A Strong Voice, Know How To Fight: Priyanka Gandhi To Wayanad Voters
Kerala: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, while addressing a rally in Chungathra of Wayanad on Tuesday, urged people to vote for her since she has a loud voice for raising their issues.
Priyanka, who is making her electoral debut, said, “I have been a housewife for over 30 years, so my voice is strong—just ask my husband! You have a fighter in me, and if you trust me as your MP, I will not disappoint you.”
She also attacked BJP for destroying peace and harmony among various sects of people in the name of religion.
“They (BJP) have tried to sow the seeds of fear, anger, hatred, and mistrust between different communities. In politics, when you are told to fight each other, somebody is benefiting from your emotions,” she said.
“You are the light that India should see, where Hindus, Muslims, and Christians live as brothers and sisters—no fighting, no anger, and no hatred,” she added.
Expressing concern over crony capitalism, Priyanka attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for favouring his business friends, who she alleged benefited greatly during the BJP rule. “Without most people even realising, ports, airports, public sector subsidiaries, and major road projects have been handed over to the Prime Minister’s business friends,” she said, adding that these decisions put private interests above public welfare.
She also reminded the people of Kerala that the Prime Minister didn’t release funds for a long time even after meeting the flood victims in the state.
Priyanka is contesting the Lok Sabha bypoll from Kerala’s Wayanad seat vacated by brother Rahul Gandhi. The byelection is slated for November 13.
