PM Modi Condemns ‘Deliberate Attack’ On Hindu Temple, Urges Canadian Govt To Ensure Justice

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned the “deliberate attack on a Hindu temple in Canada” and also criticised “cowardly attempts” to intimidate Indian diplomats there.

In a shocking incident, ‘anti-India elements’ resorted to violent disruption at a temple in Brampton, Ontario, where the Indian High Commission was holding a consular camp.

“We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law,” Modi said in a strong message to his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau on his X handle.

The Indian PM also mentioned that “such acts of violence will never weaken India’s resolve.”

Earlier in the day, the External Affairs Ministry said the Indian government “condemns acts of violence perpetrated by extremists and separatists,” and urged its Canadian counterpart to ensure all places of worship are adequately protected.

“We also expect that those indulging in such violence will be prosecuted,” spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement issued in the afternoon.

Jaiswal said that the Indian government remains “deeply concerned” about the and security of its citizens in Canada.
