Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman who had sustained grievous head injuries after being attacked by chain snatchers three days ago, died in a hospital in Bhubaneswar.
The deceased has been identified as U Bishnu Patra, a resident of Bhubaneswar.
Sources said the incident took place when Bishnu and her husband were travelling from Bhubaneswar to Harirajpur’s Somanath Temple on a bike. Two miscreants on a bike chased them and attempted to snatch her gold chain but failed due to its thickness.
Subsequently, the miscreants chased the couple again and attacked the woman in their bid to steal the chain.
Bishnu suffered severe injuries on her head in the attack. However, her courageous response startled the attackers, who were forced to retreat after she raised an alarm, chasing them away from the scene.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she underwent treatment before succumbing to her injuries on Wednesday evening.
