Users Upset As Netflix Crashes Ahead Of Boxing Match Between Mike Tyson & Jake Paul
New Delhi: In a major disappointment for fans who attempted to watch the much-awaited boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul, streaming giant Netflix experienced a widespread outage on Saturday ahead of the event.
Technical difficulties disrupted the livestream of the bout. The match had generated huge buzz due to the unique pairing of YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul and boxing legend Tyson. The technical glitch was a major hurdle for Netflix’s foray into live sports broadcasting.
According to the data on Downdetector.com, a website tracking online service interruptions, over 85,000 users had faced the issue. The outage primarily affected major metropolitan areas in the United States, including New York, Seattle, and Los Angeles. There were scattered reports of disruptions from elsewhere as well. However, the exact cause of the outage is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, a sell-out crowd of 75,000 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas watched the fight live, which was being dubbed as the biggest fight ever. Users vented out their anger and frustration on social media.
“If Netflix doesn’t fix this buffering issue, this will go down as one of the biggest fails in all of tv/streaming history,” one user wrote on X.
