Man Accused Of Wife’s Murder In Odisha’s Berhampur Arrested From Kerala
Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested a man, who had allegedly murdered his wife in Odisha’s Ganjam district a year back, in Kerala.
According to sources, the accused, Shami Daman, belonging to Kerala, had married K Krishna Veni of RV Nagar in Visakhapatnam of Andhra Pradesh last year. The couple had come on a visit to Berhampur in Ganjam district in November last year.
They had stayed in a hotel at Goilundi in the city for some days. While staying in the hotel, Daman had allegedly killed his wife in their room and absconded.
A few days after Veni’s murder, when foul smell came out of the room, the hotel staff informed the police. The police found Veni murdered after opening the room.
The police sent the body for post-mortem and registered a case. They also launched a manhunt to trace Daman.
Meanwhile, Daman, who was arrested in Kerala for ganja smuggling several times, returned to his home state and again started the illegal business. Kerala Police nabbed him while selling the ganja and informed their Berhampur counterpart.
Berhampur police went to Kerala and brought Daman on remand and produced him in a court in Berhampur on Tuesday.
