Air Pollution Grips North India, Bhubaneswar AQI ‘Moderate’

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: At a time when North India is reeling under the worsening air pollution crisis, the air quality in Bhubaneswar is ‘moderate.’ The AQI in Bhubaneswar stood at 178.

In North India, multiple cities recorded air quality in the ‘poor’ and ‘severe’ categories on Wednesday. The AQI in Delhi continued to deteriorate as it hit 422 on Wednesday.

According to reports, six major cities recorded ‘poor’ air quality. In four cities, the air quality fell into the ‘moderate’ category. In four other cities, the air quality was rated ‘satisfactory.’ Only two were in the ‘good’ category, state the Central Pollution Control Board data.

Aizawl and Guwahati had the lowest pollution levels, with AQI readings of 26 and 43, at 6 am, reported the India Today.

Work from home in New Delhi

Amid the alarming pollution levels, the Delhi government has directed 50 per cent of its employees to work from home.

“To reduce pollution, the Delhi government decided to implement work from home in government offices. 50% of employees will work from home. For its implementation, a meeting will be held with the officials at 1 pm today in the Secretariat,” Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai wrote on X in Hindi.
