Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Monday reportedly directed the state government to immediately fill up the vacant junior teacher posts in the various schools.
The High Court issued an order in the matter of the junior teacher’s recruitment and asked the Odisha government to prepare a second merit list and fill up the remaining vacant posts on merit basis.
Earlier, the Odisha Government had issued a notification for recruitment of 20,000 Junior Teachers in the state. After the examination, the government had made a final merit list of 16,000 candidates based on cut-off mark. But 4,000 posts still remained vacant.
But from the 16,000 selected candidates, about 2,000 failed to join duty. As a result, the total vacancy rose to 6,000.
Later, some candidates who were not selected in the first merit list had moved the Orissa High Court. They had urged the Court to issue a directive to the government to prepare a fresh merit list with a lower cut-off mark.
Hearing their petition, the High Court issued a directive to the state government to prepare a second merit list and fill up the remaining vacant posts immediately, sources said.
