Bhubaneswar: A 10-day-long workshop designed to train budding researchers in the realm of research methodology concluded at the Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.

Altogether 42 researchers from across the country attended the workshop, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), which was organised by SOA’s Centre for Preservation, Propagation and Restoration of Ancient Culture and Heritage of India (PPRACHIN).

The workshop aimed at enhancing the capabilities of research scholars by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge required for excelling in their research pursuits, a press release from SIA said on Thursday.

Addressing the valedictory function, Prof. Kamal K. Misra, former Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University of Culture and former Director of Anthropological Survey of India, Kolkata, urged research scholars to think out of the box while making use of latest technology.

Artificial Intelligence, he said, was a new tool which had come as a boon for researchers as all kinds of softwares were now available for use. “But while employing AI, remember that it is a double-edged sword. You have to use it judiciously, using your judgement,” he said.

The central government was promoting new kind of innovation and action-oriented research when the trend in social science research had changed with human sciences also included in it, Prof Misra said.

The valedictory program was chaired by Prof. Jayanta Kumar Nath, SOA’s Dean, Research and Development.
