New Delhi: Hectic preparations are going on for “Pran Pratishtha” (consecration ceremony) at Lord Jagannath temple at Noida in National Capital Region (NCR).
The 5-day celebration on the premises of the newly built temple at Sector–121 in Noida would be held between January 29 and February 2. Lakhs of devotees are expected to take part in the consecration ceremony of four deities, which is organised by the temple’s management committee Shri Jagannath Samiti.
President Draupadi Murmu has been invited to attend the function as chief guest on the auspicious day of Basant Panchami on February 2. Gajapati Maharaja of Puri Dibya Singha Deb will be the first servitor to offer puja to Lord Jagannath after the Pran Pratistha.
Other dignitaries, who are expected to take part in the ceremony, include Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, MP of Gautam Bhudha Nagar Mahesh Sharma, Noida MLA Pankaj Singh and Chhattisgarh MLA Purandar Mishra.
During the Pran Pratishtha, a series of special religious rituals will be performed by a team of priests deputed by Mukti Mandap of Puri. The committee has planned cultural programmes, spiritual preachings and community gatherings on the occasion.
The mega religious event will also witness congregation of Sadhus, Sanths and Mahatmas from different holy places including Ayodhya, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Puri, Banaras, said general secretary of the temple management committee Manoranjan Mohanty, vice-president Pramod Bhal and joint secretary Dhaneswar Nayak in a press meet.
The majestic Jagannath temple took 15 years to be built. It is a modern structure compared to ancient Jagannath Temple at Puri. Its core architecture reflects traditional Indian temple design featuring intricate and exquisite stone carvings. The sanctum sanctorum in the temple contains Ratna Singhasan for stationing four deities. The earlier version of old makeshift temple was erected here with Shilanyaas in 2013.
Mohanty said the newly built temple will serve the religious and spiritual aspirations and obligations of growing population of devotees in the National Capital Region. The temple will host various festivals and community get-togethers. The most important festival will be the Rath Yatra as it is held in Puri, he added.
