New Delhi: A week after Donald Trump was sworn in as American President for his second term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with him on Monday.
“Delighted to speak with my dear friend President @realDonaldTrump @POTUS. Congratulated him on his historic second term. We are committed to a mutually beneficial and trusted partnership. We will work together for the welfare of our people and towards global peace, prosperity, and security,” Modi said in a post on X.
During their telephonic conversation, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations.
There is speculation that Trump may be visiting India within the next few months.
Modi had called Trump soon after the latter won the Presidential election on November 7. Trump had praised PM Modi, describing him as a magnificent man who was loved by the whole world.
Trump was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on January 20 at the Capitol’s Rotunda hall. The ceremony was moved indoors for the first time in 40 years due to extremely cold weather.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who represented India at Trump’s inauguration ceremony, on the invitation of the US government, carried a letter from PM Modi for Trump.
