Bhubaneswar: Odisha government is set to appoint 5,248 MBBS doctors and 126 dentists this year to fill up the existing vacancies, the state Assembly was informed on Monday.
Sharing this information in the House, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling said that the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has been asked to conduct selection process for these vacant posts this year.
The Minister further informed that day care centres and chemotherapy facilities will be set up in all the district headquarters hospitals (DHH).
This apart, there is a proposal to open satellite health centres in Bhadrak, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Kendrapada, Sonepur, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Jajpur and Boudh.
These satellite centres will have ten observation beds and 24-hour ambulance service will be provided on the campus to shift patients to the district headquarters hospitals.
The purpose of the satellite health centres is to provide primary health services by utilising the existing infrastructure, Dr Mahaling added.
