According to sources, a police officer visited the hotel as a customer and rented a room with a sex worker after negotiating a Rs 2,000 deal. Moments later, a police team stormed into the hotel and detained two sex workers and the caretaker for further investigation.

Later, raids were conducted at several other places, including hotels in Charampa and Asura. A sex worker was rescued and a young man was arrested from a tailoring shop’s restroom near Charampa.

Police sources said that sex workers were operating from various hotels and rented accommodations across Bhadrak district. “Raids were conducted at three places including a hotel. We have also received inputs about illegal activities going on in other places in the city and are in the process of verifying those reports,’ said Bhadrak City DSP Sambit Majhi.
