Mumbai: Former television actress Sana Khan, who had quit showbiz before marriage, is in a soup for asking fellow-actress Sambhavna Seth to wear a burqa.
Sana, who has started her podcast ‘Raunak-E- Ramadan’ ater quitting acting, interviews celebrities on their Ramadan experience and shares special iftar recipes.
While preparing for the upcoming episode of her podcast, Sana is seen criticising her guest Sambhavna for her outfit.
Sana also asks Sambhavna to wear a burqa, if she doesn’t have a decent salwar kameez to wear.
Their meeting was filmed by Sambhavna for her vlog and shared on YouTube.
“Tere paas ek acchi salwar kameez nahi hai… thappad chahiye? Where is your dupatta? Burqa laao… Sambhavna ko burqa pehnao” (You don’t have a good salwar kameez… Want a slap? Where is your dupatta? Bring a burqa… Make Sambhavna wear a burqa),” Sana said to Sambhavna.
Sambhavna replied, “Nothing else was fitting me because I have put on so much weight. I have gained almost 15 kgs. It’s fine. People will focus on what we say, not on our clothes. People will love us for who we are.”
As soon as the vlog went viral, netizens slammed Sana for being regressive and forcing Sambhavna to wear a burqa for her podcast.
One user commented, “If Sana wants people to accept her culture and her dressing sense, then she should also respect others for who they are. Very regressive.”
Another wrote, “Honestly, I hated how Sana was imposing her thoughts on Sambhavna’s outfit… live and let others live.”
“It was a little rude of her to tell you to cover up, like it’s your choice to wear whatever you like,” responded one person.
“Disappointed by Sana’s behaviour. She’s saying ‘dupatta nahi hai, salwar kameez nahi hai’ (there’s no dupatta or salwar kameez). Who is she to force someone to wear one?” was another reaction.
