Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Friday that only Hindus should be employed at the Tirumala Temple in Tirupati.
The ‘diktat’ of the chief minister, who visited the Tirumala Lord Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple to offer prayers on the occasion of his grandson Devaansh’s birthday, comes after Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board chairman BR Naidu comment recently that all working at Tirumala should be Hindus.
So what will happen to the other employees?
Chandrababu said non-Hindus working there will be reassigned to other roles.
“Only Hindus should be employed at the Tirumala Temple. If individuals from other religions are currently working there, they will be relocated to other places without hurting their sentiments,” Chandrababu was quoted as saying by ANI.
The only-Hindu workforce plan has been opposed by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi.
Reacting to the TTD Board chairman’s call, Owaisi had slammed the Narendra Modi-helmed Central government, of which Chandrababu’s TDP is an alliance partner.
Owaisi questioned the need to include two non-Muslim members in the central Waqf Board when the TTD Board will only have Hindus.
