Khurda: Almost eight years after the horrific murder of Anup Behera in Jatni area, the Additional District & Sessions Judge court in Khurda on Tuesday sentenced four persons to life imprisonment.
The court found Halu Behra, Mrunal Behra, Gopinath Behra, and Nalu Behra guilty of murdering Anup in September 2017, using sharp weapons and iron rods.
Anup of Bhoi Sahi was beaten to death for opposing the relationship of his sister with Kanha of the same locality. Upset over the matter, he had thrashed his sister and the person on August 26. In a revenge attack, Kanha, along with his father Nalu, his brothers Kuna and Sarua, and friend Gopia, mercilessly beat Anup with wooden sticks and iron rods at around 1 am on September 2, 2017. Anup, who was then 24-year-old, was rushed to Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar but succumbed at around 4 am.
