Shimla: Six people lost their lives in a landslide which resulted in a tree falling near Gurdwara Manikaran Sahib in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu on Sunday.
“Six people died and five were injured after trees were uprooted near Manikaran Gurdwara parking in Kullu. Police and rescue teams of the district administration have shifted five injured people to the local community hospital at Jari,” Ashwani Kumar, additional district magistrate, Kullu, told ANI.
According to Kullu MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, the mishap took place near Manikaran Gurdwara where a tree uprooted.
“Bodies are being brought to the hospital, and the four injured are also being brought here… A police team and the administration are present at the spot,” ANI quoted Thakur as saying.
A tree, on the mountain opposite the gurdwara, got uprooted following a storm and landslide, and fell on some vehicles parked on the road.

Medical teams, police and revenue officials are present at the spot and coordinating rescue and relief operations, said Kullu’s Sub Divisional Magistrate Vikas Shukla told reporters at the spot.
Chief minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has instructed officers to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured and assistance to the families of deceased.
Earlier this month, heavy rains and snowfall triggered landslides in several parts of Himachal, blocking roads and gushing waters sweeping away huge mounds of debris and damaging vehicles in Kullu and other places.
