Rayagada: Driver of a tanker and locals had a narrow escape after the heavy vehicle fell off a flyover at Rayagada town of Odisha on Sunday.
As per preliminary information, the tanker fell over 30 feet off the flyover after crashing into the railings of the bridge, apparently after the driver lost control over the wheels.
There was no report of injury to anyone after the heavy vehicle fell on a busy market area. It was a narrow escape for those present at the site, while the driver of the vehicle was suspected to have fled the scene after the crash.
Eyewitnesses said the vehicle crashed as the driver tried to save a scooter approaching from the opposite direction. The tanker was reportedly proceeding from Koraput to Jharsughda when the mishap took place.
A ream of police personnel visited the site and efforts are on to remove the tanker from the mishap site. It was immediately not clear if the tanker was empty or has something inside.
