Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to mislead it own people, Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, in a late night presser, used a small part of a full video clip of Aaj Tak News Channel to claim Indian airfields have been destroyed.

PIB factchecked this claim and said that the full video shown in the news channel was about the destruction of a Pakistani airfield by Indian forces and fears among people there.

In its media briefing, the DG ISPR of Pakistan used a small part of a full video clip of Aaj Tak News Channel to claim Indian airfield has been destroyed.

This is an attempt by #Pakistan to mislead its own people by producing doctored footage as evidence.

The DG claimed that Pakistan targeted 26 Indian military sites, downed 84 Indian drones and neutralised S-400 air defence system at two locations, albeit with no proof of the same except for some doctored videos.

Interestingly, the press conference was delayed by 2 hours after India’s Tri-Service briefing during which Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, Air Marshal A K Bharti, and Vice Admiral A N Pramod, laid out visual proof and operational specifics of India’s precision strikes on nine major terror hubs and eight key Pakistani airbases.

Chaudhry, however, reluctantly accepted damage to airbase, fighter Jets during Indian retaliatory strikes. “Certain infrastructure damage…Only one aircraft has minor damage & soon be operational again.”

The deceit and lies did not end here.

The DG ISPR scored a self-goal by claiming that the viral image of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist at a funeral with other army men, including Lt Gen Fayyaz Hussain, Major General Rao Imran, Brigadier Mohd Furqan from Administration, Usman Anwar Pakistan Punjab Legislator and Malik Sohaib Ahmed, is actually an innocent family man and a preacher. He shared his National ID card to ‘prove’ how he is a simple party worker. However, the details of the person, including date of birth and even National ID number, matched exactly with the one Hafiz Abdur Rauf, who is a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by US Treasury,

Pakistan army in their press briefing yesterday lied that US-designated Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist, Hafiz Abdur Rauf is a just a local cleric and a small time political party worker. https://t.co/Sb3Fx15Cpp pic.twitter.com/999na0aSiH

Twisting the facts further, he claimed that India had declared him dead.

India had said that Hafiz Abdur Rauf attended funeral of Lashkar terrorists with Pakistan Army in Muridke and the one killed was Jaish e Muhhamad Chief and brother of Masood Azhar, Abdul Rauf Asghar, in Bahawalpur.

The DG ISPR was also brutally trolled in India over his claim that several Pakistani armed drones hovered over India’s major cities and sensitive political and government facilities, including national capital New Delhi, under Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos.

Chaudhry also denied that Pakistan had made no request to the US for a ceasefire. “Let me put it on record that Pakistan never requested for a ceasefire,” he emphasised.

A New York Times report, however, stated that India’s strike on Pakistan’s Nur Khan air base in Rawalpindi alarmed Pakistan’s military. The attack targeted a key air refuelling facility critical for Pakistani fighter jets and was close to the Strategic Plans Division headquarters, which manages Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, signalling India’s capacity for significant damage. Following this, Pakistan sought US intervention.

When Vice President J.D. Vance spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he did not pledge to de-escalate and warned of retaliation if Pakistan heightened tensions. It was after this that India struck three Pakistani airbases, according to Bloomberg.

The Australia Today, quoting highly-placed sources, reported that India consented to a ceasefire after a call from Pakistan’s DGMO to his Indian counterpart, assuring no further strikes and requesting a ceasefire. The report noted Pakistan sought the ceasefire to secure a $1 billion IMF tranche, with the initial payment dependent on immediate ceasefire acceptance and further funds linked to ongoing compliance.

According to India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, “Pakistan’s Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) called Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon. It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time. Today, instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. The Directors General of Military Operations will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours.”

India has stressed that this is only an understanding and not an agreement and Operation Sindoor is still in progress.
